Primary School. Curriculum 2020 ideas from Ysgol Gynradd Llanidloes Primary School!

Based on the work carried out in Ysgol Gynradd Llanidloes Primary School in the summer term of 2018, this set of documents is intended to help and guide Years 3 and 4 teachers in delivering an effective introduction to the plastic issue, marine conservation and associated activities. It could also be used as a general guide for other year groups. All year groups from 1 – 6 participated in special assemblies which included presentations and videos as well as Qs and As about plastic and the environment. The subject matter also incorporated geography, maths, ecology, literacy, music, art, history, society, politics and the economy.

The first six buttons below take you to curriculum area links. The new ”2020 Curriculum for Wales, Curriculum for Life” document has been used as guidance.

The Assembly/Presentation link was created for Llanidloes but can easily be edited for any place in Wales. It will hopefully help you form your own, bespoke, presentation for wherever you live – highlighting the wonderful attributes that your corner of the world may have to it’s youngest occupants and inspiring them to care for it!

We live near rivers so we made the video below to show how the biggest river in Britain starts it's journey as a tiny and pristine watercourse and how human activity impacts on it as it heads through the first town on the River Severn, Llanidloes. Show it to your Primary School pupils as an introduction to their plastic-free journey - from being tiny children and how they grow into bigger kids and learn to care for their river for the rest of their lives!

Co-op donated 3,000 cotton tote bags to the project! The 'Project Bag Design' engaged the kids in artwork associated with Marine Conservation Society Workshops. Other useful documents are supplied for you, too.
